Kanye West Announces Release Date For DONDA 2 Album, Executive Produced By Future

Kanye West to drop “Donda 2” next month.

After all the teases throughout this month, Kanye West has officially announced his next studio album “Donda 2”, a sequel to his last year’s album. The rapper took to his social media to reveal that the album will release next month on February 22nd. For a surprise, Ye announced that the project will be executive produced by Future. “DONDA2 COMING 2 22 22 EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY FUTURE,” he wrote on the caption of the burning replica of his childhood home, from DONDA album listening concerts last year. The house on fire in Ye’s photo seems strangely similar to his mother’s little Chicago home, which was eventually the center of interest at Chicago’s third “Donda” listening session.

Kanye West recently linked up with Future, when he was a surprise guest at Freebandz’s boss’ Rolling Loud set in California. It was one of the highlights of the entire festival.

Future will executive produce Donda 2 as well, according to Kanye. He didn’t elaborate on what that implies (or how Future’s input will affect the final product), but fans also are predicting that Donda 2 will feature some of Kanye’s most noxious tracks. Future is notorious for releasing emotional and filthy tunes about his previous relationships, so it’s extremely likely that he’ll do the same with Kanye.

Ye had been linking up with several artists this month, including Moneybagg Yo, Hit-Boy, The Game, Big Sean, Pusha T, Fivio Foreign, French Montana and more. He also dropped a collaboration with The Game titled “Eazy“, which featured production from Hit-Boy, DJ Premier and Mike Dean.

Kanye West’s “DONDA”, which was named after his late mother, was his 10th studio album and released in August last year. The star-studded project featured guest appearances from Jay-Z, DaBaby, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, Playboi Carti and more. It initially scored the most first-day streams for an album in 2021 on both Apple Music and Spotify. The album debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200, and becomes his 10th consecutive chart-topper on the US charts, tying the record set by Eminem. The album is also nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.

The follow-up to West’s recent album, Donda, which was released in August, will be called Donda 2. West has been busy recently, co-headlining the Amazon-sponsored Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert with Drake, releasing a song with the Game, and being named a Coachella headliner. In addition, the first instalment of the Jeen-Yuhs documentary about his life was released, and he’s been a regular in the headlines thanks to his current relationship with actress Julia Fox.
