French Montana Says Nicki Minaj Deserves More Respect From The Industry.
French Montana recently showed love to Nicki Minaj while speaking about how major artists often do not get appreciated enough during their careers.
During a new interview with Complex, Montana spoke about several music legends and celebrities who he believes have been unfairly criticised over the years. While discussing the topic, he made it clear that the Queen of Barbz deserves more flowers for everything she has accomplished in hip-hop. “Shout out to Nicki, man. Get your flowers,” French said during the interview. “Shout out to her.”
French explained that many famous artists and public figures usually face heavy criticism while they are still active in their careers. According to him, people often wait until artists are gone before fully appreciating their impact.
He brought up several major names while making his point, including Floyd Mayweather, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, JAY-Z, and Drake. “Look what they’re doing to [Floyd] Mayweather. Look what they did to Michael [Jackson] before Michael died,” he said. “All the greats got crucified. They don’t appreciate you until you not here, bro,” said French, before adding Bob Marley’s name to the list. “Everybody was going through it, bro. Look what they doing to Jay[-Z]. They just dragging him in and out of court. Every other day. Name one person that got they flowers right now.”
The rapper also pointed to the criticism Drake has faced recently following his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar and all the attention surrounding his ICEMAN album rollout. “Look what they’re doing to Drake,” French added. “Everybody’s getting crucified, bro. So, it’s not even like, a thing, like, you’re gonna get your flowers now. You know you’re not going to get your flowers now. But, when it comes to artists, we gotta give you your flowers.”

French Montana’s comments quickly started conversations online, especially among Nicki Minaj fans. Over the years, Nicki has remained one of the most successful female rappers ever, breaking records and helping open doors for many women in hip-hop. At the same time, she has also dealt with controversy, social media drama, rap beefs, and criticism connected to her personal life and public opinions. Even with all the debates around her, French made it clear that he still sees Nicki as one of hip-hop’s greatest artists and believes she deserves more respect from the culture while she is still here.
The interview also sparked larger conversations online about whether artists truly receive appreciation during their careers or only after they are gone.
