DaBaby Names Eminem, 50 Cent & More As Rap Inspirations

DaBaby says he takes inspiration from Eminem, 50 Cent, and more previous generation artists.

DaBaby is one of the hitmakers in the rap game currently and he recently made his return with two new singles titled “Ball If I Want To” and “Red Light Green Light“, but he was trending for some other reason on social media last week. Comedian Lil Duval compared DaBaby to Ludacris after posting a similar pic of both the artists, which was a trending topic on Twitter.

Now DaBaby made an appearance at the 2021 BET Awards and addressed Lil Duval’s Ludacris on the Red Carpet. He reveals he is inspired by Ludacris, along with many previous generation artists.

I wouldn’t even say we’re one of the same. I feel like that’s too commonly used. I think people use that too lightly. I was inspired by Ludacris’ creativity with his music videos. [I was inspired] by a lot of people. Not only people like Ludacris but people like Nelly. I mean, everybody. I feel like as the generations unfolded, people from every era was inspired by somebody from the era before them. Even when it boils down to 50 Cent, Eminem, and Mystikal, everybody’s videos used to be crazy. Busta Rhymes’ videos used to be crazy [too]. So I definitely was inspired by Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and several other artists with their music videos.

Super inspired by Ludacris,” says Cleveland native. “Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Eminem, 50 Cent. Everybody’s videos, they used to just be crazy coming up. So I definitely drew inspiration from not only Ludacris but several other artists from previous generations.

I’m just bringing that new thing to the table this year and I’m one of the only one’s doing it. Baby.

At the 2021 BET Awards, DaBaby also performed his latest single “Ball If I Want To” and also joined DJ Khaled, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and Megan Thee Stallion for a medley.

DaBaby uploaded a photo of himself with 50 Cent on Instagram, adding that he had learned a lot from studying Fifty and that he now got the opportunity to have a long talk with him. Furthermore, Fifty answered by promising to share all of his experience with the younger rapper in order to aid him on his path up. The mention of Fifty’s late father made this remark much more personal and ominous. This, according to Fifty, is the true spirit of hip hop.

Blame It on Baby, the rapper’s quarantine-released album landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April. His single “Rockstar” topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks, spending the most time at the top. Despite the fact that DaBaby, 28, does not use TikTok, you couldn’t use the popular app for months without seeing someone perform the viral dance to his famous song.
