Ed Sheeran Reveals Favorite Eminem Lyrics & A Gift He Sent Him

Ed Sheeran names Eminem as one of the reasons to start writing music.

As a songwriter, Ed Sheeran has previously stated that Eminem is one of his biggest influences. Michael Bennett, a radio presenter, recently encouraged the Ipswitch singer/songwriter to discuss Eminem on air. Ed hardly paused for a second before reciting the third verse of “Criminal” off the top of his head when asked about his favorite Eminem lyrics.

Ed Sheeran is currently on the promo run for his new comeback single “Bad Habits” as he gave an interview to radio host Michael Bennett. On the show, Ed Sheeran was asked about his favorite Eminem lyrics. The English singer who has worked with Eminem on three songs, names “Criminal” as his favorite from the classic “The Marshall Mathers LP“.

My favorite Eminem lyrics? In ‘Criminal’ when he raps:
Windows tinted on my ride when I drive in it
So when I rob a bank, run out and just dive in it
So I’ll be disguised in it and if anybody identifies
The guy in it, I hide for five minutes
Come back, shoot the eyewitness
Fire at the private eye hired to pry in my business
Die bi**hes, bastards, brats, pets
This puppy’s lucky I didn’t blast his a*s yet.

just that, just the flow of that is f**king amazing,” says Sheeran.

They retain a pleasant connection, and Ed appears to be the type of person who can choose a thoughtful present for a buddy. He showed it by gifting Em a gift for his appearance in the “No.6 Collaborations Project” in 2019.

Ed also recalled sending Eminem a gift after their “Remember The Name” collaboration which also had 50 Cent. “We’ve done like three tunes together,” he says. “I’ve said to him before, he’s one of the reasons why I started writing music. When I did this collaborations project, I sent everyone involved like a really really nice bottle of wine. He’s obviously sober, so I didn’t send him wine. I know he’s a big gamer, so I sent him a Nintendo64 with “GoldenEye” on it. He’d never played it, but I hope he has now.

Eminem, with whom Sheeran has worked on several projects, told the singer that it was crucial for him to view his career as a 9–5 job so that he could spend time with his friends and family in the evening, particularly following the birth of his daughter Lyra with wife Cherry Seaborn.

“I primarily thought the hip-hop sessions were night-time, that’s how I first really started off, was going to the studio at, like, 6:00 p.m., having a bit of food, having a chat, about 9:00 p.m. you get in the booth and then by, like, 6:00 a.m. you’re going home, and that was just the norm,” Sheeran began as she spoke about his earlier days of making music.
