The Weeknd's Starboy & Blinding Lights Earns RIAA Diamond Status

The Weeknd continues his domination with two new Diamond certifications.

Following a Grammy Award for his assistance on Kanye West’s “Hurricane” last week, The Weeknd now got two more reasons to celebrate. The Weeknd has now earned two more RIAA Diamond certifications, after his “The Hills” single which received it in 2020 after moving over 10 million units.

The Canadian artist “Starboy” single becomes his second track to achieve Diamond status. The track was his third #1 single on Hot 100 back in 2016. Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights“, which broke several records along with the “After Hours” album, earned him his third RIAA Diamond certification. The track topped the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2020 and spent four weeks on the top. Last year, the song also made history as it became the new #1 song on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time on the Hot 100 Chart.

The two new certifications come after his latest music video “Out Of Time” with cameos from Jim Carrey and Squid Game star HoYeon Jung. The song appeared on his most recent album “Dawn FM“.

In other exciting news, superstar is gearing up for his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour, which will feature special guest Doja Cat. The tour will begin in July in The Weeknd’s birthplace of Toronto and conclude in September in Los Angeles. The Weeknd’s enormous world tour will kick off in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, with more dates to be announced shortly in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
