The Projected First Week Sales Of Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers Album

Kendrick Lamar’s new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” projected first-week sales are in.

This week, Kendrick Lamar finally dropped his long-awaited new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers“, a follow up to 2017’s Pulitzer-winning effort “DAMN.” The album is a double-disc project with 18 tracks, and guest appearances from Kodak Black, Blxst, Baby Keem, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah and more.

Now the first week projections for the project are in, which is not as high considering it’s his first album in 5 years. The fans were expecting it to move over 500k in the first week, but according to Hits Daily Double, the album will sell 325-350K units the first week, with 400M streams. This will be the biggest first-week sales of 2022.

The projected sales are half of what K. Dot’s previous album “DAMN.” sold in the first week. The album topped the US Billboard 200 with 603,000 album-equivalent units.

The first week’s projections again started the debate that no one can compete with Drake at the moment. Drizzy’s latest album “Certified Lover Boy” moved over 600k in the first week last year.

For Dot’s final Top Dawg Entertainment release, the album, which was released on Friday, covers a lot of territory. Lamar discusses topics such as cancel culture, his personal faith, parenthood, and family life, as well as his experiences with homophobia and prior familial tragedy.

Boi-1da, The Alchemist, Dahi, Sounwave, Beach Noise, Pharrell, and others contributed to the album’s production, with Baby Keem’s charm scattered across. The project features Keem, Summer Walker, Beth Gibbons of Portishead, Kodak Black, and others.
