Nicki Minaj Reveals She Turned Down Gunna's P Power Collab Because It Was Too Vulgar

Nicki Minaj was supposed to feature on Gunna’s “P Power” track.

Last month, Gunna dropped his brand new album “DS4EVER“, the fourth and final instalment of his “Drip Season” project series. The star-studded album featured Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Future, Young Thug and more. It is now revealed that Nicki Minaj was also supposed to feature on the album, as Gunna reached out to her for the “P Power” song, which had assistance from Drake.

In the latest interview with The Dana Cortez Show as part of the promo for her music return, Nicki Minaj revealed that she declined the collab as it was too explicit for her as a mother.

“Gunna came to my studio months ago and he asked me to get on his song ‘Pu**y Power,’” she said. “I heard the beat and I went [crazy]. I was like, ‘This beat is outta here.’ No lie. I sat with the song for months and months and couldn’t bring myself to write to the record. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It was like the moaning and the groaning on the track. I knew in order to get on a track like that I would have to be explicit, and in my opinion I would have to really kill it and be explicit and talk that real talk and I wasn’t ready, I just wasn’t there. So shout out to him, he got Champagne Papi on the song. That’s just to tell you how being a mom has changed me.”

She hinted a collaboration with a mysterious female artist later in the chat. Nicki said, “I recently sent a verse back to a female.” She didn’t disclose who it was, but she did indicate it was someone she doesn’t follow on social media. She urged her admirers, “Barbz, mind your business.”

“I don’t think the new female rappers really understand who I am,” Nicki told Jada in a conversation for Interview Magazine. “A lot of the girls that came before me, they really were those se*ual beings, and I was so inspired by them. But I’m not like that, I’m more the goofy girl. Even some of the new male rappers—I turned down a Gunna song because it was just moa-ing and gro-ning on the track, but Drake ended up doing it and it worked great for them. And free Gunna by the way, I have to make sure I say that. But it’s just like, I told her I’m not there.”

Nicki Minaj is poised to release her new single “Do We Have a Problem?” on Friday which features Lil Baby.
