Ice-T Shouts Out Eminem For Showing Love To His Album From 1988

Ice-T acknowledges Eminem for showing love to his 1988s album.

Yesterday, Eminem and Shady Records announced that they have signed a new member GRIP to their label. Shady Records and GRIP shared a picture of himself in the studio with the boss Eminem. However, one of the Twitter users was more interested in the shirt Eminem was wearing, as it featured some album cover. Eminem affiliate and good friend KXNG Crooked was quick to respond as he said that it looks like “Rhyme Syndicate Coming Through,” an Ice-T album that was released back in 1988.

Ice-T himself retweets KXNG Crooked and confirmed that it is indeed the cover art of his project. “Yep. EM is always reppin. #SYNDICATE4EVER,” wrote Ice-T. Rhyme Syndicate was also a hip-hop collective of artists signed to or associated with the Rhyme $yndicate label. The group was formed in 1987 by Ice-T, who wanted to unite East and West Coast rappers, DJs, and record producers.

It is not the first time Eminem rocked a shirt with a classic hip-hop album cover, he has been doing it for years. A couple of years ago during the Rapture tour, Eminem revealed the reason he does it. “There’s a reason I do this, every single night on stage man. Hopefully, some of you all might go but their albums. Might go look em’ up. Maybe you don’t know who Masta Ace was, or Kool G Rap. I feel like you need to know because what they did for hip-hop is so f*cking incredible because they made it go to that next level. These are the rappers that inspired me, man. On some real sh*t,” said Eminem while interacting with the crowd.

Mutual respect has existed between these two rappers for decades, and it continues to this day, as one of hip-hop’s pioneers uploaded an image of Eminem wearing a t-shirt with the album cover “The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech… Just Watch What You Say!” on it.

Ice-T captioned: “Another long time friend. Eminem rocking that ICEBERG shirt.. Respect!”
