ASAP Rocky Says It's Unfortunate That Will Smith Emasculated Another Black Man Chris Rock

ASAP Rocky reacts to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at Oscars 2022.

It’s been a week since the shocking moment happened at the 94th annual Academy Awards, where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Celebrities and fans still reacting to the controversy, for which the “King Richard” actor apologized to both Chris Rock and the Academy.

Now ASAP Rocky, who will be the upcoming guest on N.O.R.E and DJ EFN’s popular podcast “Drink Champs”, along with Tank, gives his opinion on the incident in a new teaser.

“I’m a fan of Will, Jada, Chris, all of them. They OGs,” Rocky said in the clip below. “I think it’s unfortunate that he emasculated another Black man in front of all them people like that. But I do think that, like, it’s some built-up sh*t that probably wasn’t really targeted at Chris Rock. I don’t know, it seems like it’s more than just a G.I. Jane joke.”

Tank also chimes in and said, “We’ve seen some crazier jokes. Sometimes it’s just the straw that breaks the camel’s back. This straw right here, it may not be all about you, but this little straw you just put on that camel’s pack was enough, to send me.”

The viral moment is already a part of rap lyrics, as DJ Drama references the Will Smith-Chris Rock on the New Dreamville mixtape.

The slap sparked a lot of misunderstanding in the media over how the ceremony authorities first reacted. Will Packer, the Oscars producer, remembered the occasion from his viewpoint in an interview with Good Morning America on Friday, stating that Rock “did not get to one joke” that was originally scheduled as part of his presence as a presenter at the programme.
