Eminem Called Fat Joe To Talk Him Out Of Retirement

Fat Joe reveals Eminem wants to keep rapping on IG Live.

Big Sean recently sat down with Fat Joe for a live Instagram session where Sean talks about Joe and Big Pun’s influence on the game and also revealed that Eminem considers Fat Joe as one of his favorite Artists.

That’s nuts to me, bro,” says Joe, after hearing the reveal from Sean.  Em and Fat Joe have worked together on two occasions since then: the “Lean Back Remix” alongside Mase, Lil Jon, and Remy Ma, and the latest “Lord Above” on Joe’s reported farewell album Family Ties. Clearly, Eminem and Joe have profound mutual regard, to the point where Eminem isn’t ready to accept Joe’s official retirement from the rap game. At least, that’s according to Joe, who said so during a talk with Big Sean.

Then went on to reveal that Eminem called him to talk him out of retirement. “That’s nuts. You know, Em called me last week. I don’t want to keep throwing his name around, but the man was trying to talk me out of retirement last week. This is all I ever wanted my whole life, for one of the rap gods like to call me and tell me, ‘Yo Joe, you nice. You need to get back in there.’ I couldn’t believe that.

Joe revealed on CBS This Morning in December 2019 that he was considering laying off the microphone, stating, “I’m almost out of here. I think I’m retiring. I think it’s time to give it up. I’ve got mad at all the other rappers who said that they’re retiring and they came back. I’m a strong advocate against that so I’m really… I’ve been flirting with it. I’m like 85 percent gone.” He added, “I’ve never felt like this in my life. My daughter’s turning 14, I really want to watch my daughter. I really want to take her to school every day.

Joe teamed up with Dre on his newest album, Family Ties, which included Cardi B, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Mary J. Blige, Remy Ma, and Ty Dolla $ign, among others.

Watch it below at around the one-hour and fifteen-minute mark.
