After more than a decade of anticipation — and more than 35 years since the debut of his first album — LL Cool J was honored into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday as part of the museum’s Class of 2021. At the end of last month, this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony took place in Cleveland, Ohio. The event honoured two hip-hop icons, LL Cool J and Jay-Z as the latest inductions for the prestigious award. LL Cool J finally received the honour after six nominations in his career. During the event, LL Cool J helped get inducted by the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem and Jennifer Lopez.

With his induction into the Rock Hall, the “Mama Said Knock You Out” rapper joins fellow hip-hop icons like as the Notorious B.I.G., Beastie Boys, Tupac Shakur, Public Enemy, N.W.A., and fellow Class of 2021 inductee Jay-Z.

Now the 36th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame event finally aired on HBO last night, and along with it, LL Cool J also shared Behind The Scenes Footage, which took place a day before the event. The Road To The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame footage shows the “Mama Said Knock You Out” rapper travelling to the event for rehearsals, meeting Jennifer Lopez, Dr. Dre, Eminem and more. The clip also shows him practising the performances with Eminem and Jennifer Lopez.

According to Rolling Stone, Dr. Dre said in his speech: “Whenever I hear the first album Radio, it immediately transports me back to when I was just getting started as a DJ behind the turntables. I started off practicing mixing and scratching ‘Rock the Bells’ in my garage. And then I took that sh*t to the club and watched the club go crazy…. LL’s body of work contains some of the most diverse hip-hop has ever seen. He became rap’s first pop superstar while staying true to his roots representing Queens, New York.” “You never think about the last at-bat. Athletes go through that. People go through different things,” he previously told Rolling Stone. “At the end of the day, that only makes it better.

An introduction video for Jay-Z is also released, that features Beyonce, Chris Rock, LeBron James, DJ Khaled, Diddy, Usher, Rihanna, Pharrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Rick Ross and more.
