Snoop Dogg Announces New Joint Album With Dr. Dre Titled Missionary

Snoop Dogg announces new album “Missionary” with Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have been seen together in the studio for the past months, and the Long Beach legend recently revealed that a new joint album from the two is happening. Snoop Dogg has now officially announced a title for the project with Dre, which will be done in November.

“We bonded over the years, and Imma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this: Me and Dr. Dre [have] been working on an album for the past two months, and it’ll be done in November,” Snoop said on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast. “And it’s produced by Dr. Dre. It’s our 30th anniversary to Doggy style. And the name of the album is Missionary.”

The host then asked why did the rapper choose that name for the album title. “[Because] the first album was Doggy style,” responds Snoop.

Snoop also discussed buying Death Row Records, the label where he made his start, on the podcast. “I was looking to get my masters back from Doggystyle — That was what I was searching for. And during the process, they were — the people that had it — were charging more for the masters than for Death Row. So I had to ask myself, ‘Do I want the masters now, or do I want to go back and get that legacy?’”

Earlier this year, the two joined forces for a hip-hop special super bowl halftime show along with Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige. In August, Eminem, Snoop and Dre were also in the studio together.
