Rod Wave Postpones The Release of His New Album Beautiful Mind

Rod Wave’s fourth studio album was set to be released on 12 August.

Rod Wave ended the curiosity regarding the release of his new album earlier this month by confirming that Beautiful Mind will be released on June 3rd.

On the evening of August 10, 2022, Rod unveiled the official tracklist of his album, showcasing collaborations with Jack Harlow and December Joy. The album reflects Rod’s musical roots in both rap and R&B as he musically explores themes of love, heartbreak, and grief for lost loved ones through both rapping and singing.

In the form of the brand-new song “Stone Rolling,” Rod Wave makes his comeback to the music industry. The song is off his eagerly anticipated new album, “Beautiful Mind,” which was scheduled to be released in June. The Florida rapper has announced that the album will drop on August 12th, giving the project a new release date. The project’s official cover image has also been presented by the rapper.

Meanwhile, Rod Wave went on to Twitter to express his thoughts on his album Beautiful Mind. In cryptic tweets, Rod Wave indicated that it’s his final album where he is melancholic and talking about his personal issues on mental health and depression. He declared that he will try to be happy and live his life.

In another tweet, Rod Wave left a subtle indication that he is transforming from depression into a happy and lively life. He shared a caterpillar turned into a butterfly.

It happened after a difficult time for the rapper, who has been dealing with mental health concerns for some time. With a freestyle over Future, Drake, and Tems’ recently released song ‘Wait For U,’ Rod Wave had made the reveal. However, he gave fans an update on Thursday: the album will be delayed. Thankfully, he postponed for a week only, thus Beautiful Mind will now be released on June 10th, rather than June 3rd. The St. Petersburg, Florida-based singer has also revealed a song snippet named Assassin, which you can hear above.

Around two months ago, Rod Wave informed his global fanbase that he will be moving away from creating melancholic music from June 13th “On my baby’s dis my last sad a-s album I’m off dat jus wanna live happy travel get dis money,” he tweeted.

Rod Wave’s third studio album SoulFly, which featured 19 tracks and a single feature from Polo G on the standout cut “Richer,” was released a little more than a year ago and was a big success for the Florida native, netting him his first number one on the Billboard 200 owing to 130,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week of release — it’s also since been certified Platinum.

Rod Wave said why he prefers to pour his emotions out via his emotionally packed songs in a previous interview with Montreality: “I could make club songs. I could make bangers and sh-t that don’t make no sense. I could make that sh-t all day … I don’t wanna feed nobody no bullsh-t. I could tell you about pounds, I could tell you about trappin’, I could tell you about stealin’ and robbin’ and killin’, I could do that. It’s just that I don’t wanna do that. It’s a new trapper-rapper every day.”

Wave’s album statement came after the rapper stated that he will not be releasing songs for the foreseeable future. Wave speculated his retirement in rap on an Insta live stream in January. “I’m only here for a little longer and when I say that I mean as in Rod Wave,” he said at the time. “I’m only here for a lil’ minute, man. I done gave y’all straight dope, straight crack. Ain’t nobody’s f–king with me with that pen. This sh-t not really me, man. I’m not no people person, I’m not no center of attention a-s ni–a, I hate attention, man. I can’t get on the internet without seeing my face or name. […] It’s kind of like you sold your soul, bro, ’cause you say that’s not you but for $300K it’ll be me.”

Rod Wave’s upcoming album, Beautiful Mind, was formally unveiled over the weekend. The “Tombstone” rapper broke the news with a new freestyle over Future, Drake, and Tems’ I NEVER LIKED YOU hit “WAIT FOR U.” During the brief video, Rod Wave informed fans that he had signed Beautiful Mind to his label and that it will be published on June 3.

Rod Wave, a rapper from Florida, was arrested on May 2nd. Details about his incarceration were unknown at the time. The incident occurred on April 24, according to police records. Rods” ex-partner confronted 911 twice following their physical altercation. According to accounts, she tossed her so hard that she couldn’t breathe.

Rod Wave previously told Montreality why he likes to pour his emotions out via his emotionally laden music:

The project features a mix of emotional, introspective lyrics and smooth, melodic production. Themes of love, loss, and personal growth are explored throughout the album, with Rod Wave using his personal experiences as inspiration for the lyrics. The album features a mix of upbeat tracks and slower, more introspective cuts, showcasing the range of Rod Wave’s artistry. Overall, “Beautiful Mind” is a strong and cohesive project that showcases Rod Wave’s growth as an artist and his ability to connect with listeners through his raw and honest songwriting.

Rod Wave, who has 24 tracks in all, only taps on Jack Harlow and December Joy, keeping his features to a bare minimum. It is wonderful to watch Beautiful Mind come to life after experiencing some setbacks lately!

With 115,000 album-equivalent sales, the album debuted atop the US Billboard 200, marking Rod Wave’s second straight number-one album and fourth Top-10 album.

The album’s lead single “Break My Heart” peaked at number 73 on US Billboard Hot 100 and number 23 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was released along with a music video, in which the rapper spends time with his children with a beautiful water body behind him.

In March, Rod Wave returned to music with a brand new single and video “Fight The Feeling” with production from BeatsbyTrain, Amineskkrt, Aldaz & ThatBossEvan. This was Wave’s first new music since December’s “Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory” EP. The project earned Rod Wave a number 9 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The EP moved 32k equivalent units in the first week.

In late 2022, Rod Wave dropped a new surprise EP titled “Jupiter’s Diart: 7 Day Theory”, following his nationwide “Beautiful Mind Tour”, which kicked off in early November with Toosii and Mariah The Scientist.

The album debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 with 137,000 equivalent album units earned in the US, with 187.51 million on-demand official streams for 18 songs. This is Rod Wave’s third consecutive number 1 album in consecutive years. He is now the only rapper with a #1 album in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Nostalgia is now his 6th top-10 charting project on Billboard.

Following his new album, Rod Wave assisted NBA Youngboy on the song titled “Better Than Ever” for the Decided 2 project in November 2023.

Even though earning success with his music, Rod Wave was snubbed by the Grammys from any nominations. Following 2024 Grammy Awards, Meek Mill showed support for Wave. “Was rod wave nominated for a Grammy or nah because he’s not signed to a bunch of lawyers to steal his brand … he just sold out arenas had people singing their hearts out did that not count or am I missing something ….without major production either????”
