NFL Enlists Two Deaf Rappers To Perform With Dr. Dre, Eminem & Others At Super Bowl Halftime Show

Two Deaf Rappers to perform at Super Bowl Halftime show with Dr. Dre, Eminem & others.

This year’s LVI Super Bowl Halftime show is going to be historical for Hip-Hop, as Dr. Dre will join forces with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige for an epic event on February 13th. An official trailer for the event was recently released, to hype up the upcoming performance at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

And now NFL has announced that they are enlisting two deaf rappers, Sean Forbes and Warren (WaWa) Snipe will feature on the event, as sign-language interpretations of the headliners’ music, which is happening for the first time in NFL history.

“So this is very much a full-circle moment, being from Detroit, being part of the Eminem camp — or even going back to being 12 and listening to N.W.A., Dre and Snoop on my Walkman,” Forbes told Detroit Free Press. “Well Beautiful People! Cat’s out the bag! Another humbling and historic event happening!,” wrote Wawa.

Forbes, who helped develop the Deaf Performing Arts Network (DPAN) for sign-language performers, has a long history with Eminem. Em was constantly working on music at his father’s neighbourhood 54 Sound studio, according to the Detroit native. Forbes got the opportunity to show Em a video of his ASL performance of “Lose Yourself” in 2005, and the Oscar-winning rapper was taken aback. According to Forbes, Slim Shady’s remark was, “Deaf people like music?”

Sean Forbes recently turned 40 and acknowledged fans for the wishes and his upcoming Superbowl appearance. “I wanna thank all of you for your awesome birthday wishes. The different messages and it’s very overwhelming,” he said. And top of the super bowl announcement. How about that? Well, I’m looking forward to going to LA, having fun with Wawa all week. And putting on a show for you all.”
