LL Cool J Wants OutKast, Eminem, Rakim & More To Be Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

LL Cool J lists the artists he wants in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The 36th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame event took place last night in Cleveland, which sees two hip-hop icons gets inducted. Jay-Z and LL Cool J received the honours at the 2021 event. While Eminem, Dr. Dre and Jennifer Lopez showed up for LL, the former US President Barack Obama and comedian Dave Chappelle helped induct Hov into the hall of fame.

Dr. Dre, a Class of 2016 inductee, welcomed LL Cool J into the Rock Hall. Dr. Dre previously collaborated with the rapper on the single “Zoom” and, back in the Eighties with N.W.A., served as LL’s supporting act during a U.S. tour, including an infamous stop in Detroit, which Dr. Dre mentioned in his speech.

LL’s body of work contains some of the most diverse hip-hop has ever seen. He became rap’s first pop superstar while staying true to his roots representing Queens, New York. The second thing I think about this is remarkable longevity. Now I’ve been doing this for 35 years and I’ve seen artists come and go; they get one or two hits and then they’re gone; they disappear. But LL’s longevity is unparalleled in hip-hop,” said Dr. Dre.

After the event which will air on November 20th, LL Cool J was asked about the names he would like to see gets inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “So many. I mean, Outkast would be amazing,” he said. “Eminem would be amazing. Eric B and Rakim would be amazing. Big Daddy Kane. So many artists of Hip-Hop that are amazing. KRS-One. I had a lot of mainstream success but there are guys who may didn’t have this mainstream success but they are extremely talented.

Eminem, who joined LL Cool J to perform “Rock the Bells” at last night’s star-studded event, will finally be eligible for 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, as his debut studio album “Infinite” will be turning 25 on November 12th. The Artists become eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll hall of fame 25 years after the release of their first major recording.
