Lil Durk Earns First Solo #1 On Billboard 200 With New Album 7220

Lil Durk’s new album “7220” debuted atop of Billboard 200.

The first week numbers for Lil Durk’s new album “7220” are here, and the rapper earned his first solo number 1. The project was released last week with guest appearances from Gunna, Future, Summer Walker, Morgan Wallen and more. According to HDD, the album moved 120k equivalent units in its opening week, including 150 million streams.

Lil Durk’s last album “The Voice” was dropped in 2020, and debuted at #46 on US Billboard, as it was released on Thursday and only one-day sales (23,000) was counted. In 2021, Smurk teamed up with his regular collaborator Lil Baby for a joint project “The Voice of the Heroes“, which debuted at number one with 150,000 album-equivalent units, including 4,000 in pure sales.

7220 was streamed 38.7 million times on Spotify in its opening week, which second biggest in hip-hop this year so far, and Durk’s biggest ever opening week.

The Chicago rapper is now prepping the release of the deluxe edition of his new album, and he already delivered a new banger “Computer Murderers” just the other day.

7220 released 17 songs, including “AHHH HA” and “Golden Child,” which all charted in the top 40 on Apple Music in the United States. Southside, TM88, Cubebeatz, and Hitmaker produced the album, which also included Gunna, Summer Walker, Morgan Wallen, and Future as guests.

Ghost, at No. 2, Rex Orange County, at No. 5, and KING & COUNTRY, at No. 7, are other recent additions to this week’s top 10.

After spending eight consecutive weeks at No. 1, the Encanto soundtrack drops to No. 3 and is followed by Morgan Wallen at No. 4. The Weeknd, Gunna, Drake, and Doja Cat make up the bottom half of this week’s top 10, coming in at positions Nos. 6, 8, and 9, respectively.

Durk was questioned about a previous claim that he wanted to be “bigger than Drake” during a recent visit on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. “We touch people. Drake’s at a rate where he can stay in the f**king house if he want to. But nah, shout out to him. He touched the youth,” Durk said. “That’s one thing about him. He touched us and got us hotter than what the f**k we was but a lot of people can’t say that. Like a lot of these mothaf**kas don’t even know him but a lot of people he talk to don’t me know. Like, that’s just what it is.”

Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee, Doodie Lo, Ella Mai, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie all made extra performances on the album’s deluxe version, which was released a couple of months after the original album. David Morse, Touch of Trent, TrillBans, Haze, Southside, and TM88 all contributed to the album’s production.

Lil Durk will go on the 7220 Tour in support of the album’s release. The tour will go off on April 8 in Phoenix and stop in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, New York City, and Chicago. The whole schedule may be seen here.
