Kanye West Lit Himself On Fire At DONDA Listening Event in Chicago

Kanye West was on Fire at the “DONDA” event in Chicago.

Kanye West continues his incredible rollout for the highly anticipated album “DONDA”. After the two listening events in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Kanye West performed at the third event, this time in Chicago. For the third and most probably final event, Ye recreated his childhood home in the middle of the stadium, along with a cross at the top.

At the event, Kanye West shocked the audience as he lit himself on Fire. He was walking being on Fire for about 20 seconds before the crew came out with a fire extinguisher.

Kanye West was also joined by Marilyn Manson and controversial DaBaby, who said to replaced Jay-Z’s appearance on the album. DaBaby was recently expelled from a number of festivals after making homophobic statements onstage at the Rolling Loud event in July. The 29-year-old apologized on Instagram after receiving severe reactions from artists, events, and an open letter from GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), only to subsequently erase the post. Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson is being sued for sexual assault on several occasions. All claims against the 52-year-old shock rocker have been rejected by his ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood.

The event also featured Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who showed up in a bridal veil while “No Child Left Behind” played in the background.

According to Billboard, Kanye West’s Atlanta events grossed millions. “The listening parties in Atlanta grossed between $1.5 million and $2.7 million apiece for the rapper. (The shows did not report sales to Billboard Boxscore.) Meanwhile, all of the attention has driven interest in West’s catalog: In the 22-day period between July 19 and Aug. 9, on-demand U.S. streams of his music rose 37% over the previous 22-day period, according to MRC Data, generating an additional $350,000 in income on top of what the prior period had brought in,” reports Billboard.

The Chicago edition of DONDA West had a revised tracklist as well as additional changes and revisions to the soundtrack, including a previously unheard Lauryn Hill sample. However, numerous tracks heard in Atlanta were chopped or eliminated, including Kid Cudi’s performances and samples of West’s late mother, Donda West, after whom the album is titled.

Kanye West’s long-delayed “DONDA” is expected to be on streaming platforms later today.
