MTV Announces nominations for this year’s EMAs.
The annual MTV EMAs is taking place next month on November 14th in Budapest, Hungary, and the nominations for the 2021 event has been announced. Justin Bieber leads this year’s nominations with 8 noms including Best Artist, Best Song, Best Video and Best Collaboration. He got two spots in the Best Song category with his tracks “Peaches” and “STAY”.
Due to COVID travel limitations, the awards were conducted digitally for the first time last year and were hosted by a three-piece Little Mix. Jesy Nelson, who had been AWOL from the group, confirmed her departure shortly after.
Lady Gaga overcame Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, and The Weeknd to win Best Artist for her sixth album, Chromatica, beating out Bieber, Dua Lipa, and The Weeknd. The party will be held on November 14 in Budapest, Hungary. The bulk of awards are fan-voted, unlike the VMAs in the United States.
Bieber is followed by rappers Doja Cat and Lil Nas X, who gets spots in six categories each. They’re also nominations in top categories like Best Artist, Best Song, Best Collab and Best Video. Then comes Olivia Rodrigo, Kid LAROI and Ed Sheeran with 5 nominations each.
Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Drake, Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj are nominated in this year’s Best Hip-Hop Category.
