John Cena Reveals His You Can't See Me Move Was Inspired From Tony Yayo

John Cena reveals how he got his “You Can’t See Me” action.

HBO Max has released their new series “Peacemaker”, which stars John Cena in the lead role. It is a spin-off from the 2021 film The Suicide Squad which also featured the WWE wrestler. The 44-year-old made a visit to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon for the promo run.

During the interview, Cena was asked about his popular “You Can’t See Me” hand taunt, and what inspired it. John Cena, who’s a known big fan of Hip-Hop and himself a rapper, revealed that he learned it from one of G-Unit’s music videos.

“I developed a special manoeuvre in the WWE called the ‘You Can’t See Me,’ in which I put my hand in front of my face and say, ‘You can’t see me'” he said. “And the reason I did this is ’cause while we were making the album to which my theme music is on, my younger brother Sean was always our litmus test.”

John Cena details that his brother didn’t like any music until he heard “My Time is Now,” which went on to become his theme song. He revealed that upon hearing the song, his brother put his hand in front of his face and starts waving it like Tony Yayo’s dance in the “So Seductive” video. “I was like, ‘Man, what are you doing? That looked ridiculous.’ He was like, ‘Nah nah man, it’s the Tony Yayo dance’ And I’m like, ‘I’ll do it on TV’ And he’s like, ‘I dare you to do it on TV,'”

“WrestleMania is usually in the cusp of late March, early April. I don’t know if I’m going to make it this year,” Cena told the host. “That’s a good conundrum to have because there are a lot of good opportunities coming up, which I would love to take. If all those things line up, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make WrestleMania. I will tell everybody watching, I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcomed audiences back to arenas and I’ve far from had my last performance.”

Tony Yayo himself shared the interview clip on his social media and shouted out John Cena for the homage.
