JAY-Z & Kanye West's Nias In Paris Song Is Now RIAA Certified Diamond

JAY-Z earns first RIAA Diamond with Kanye West collab “Ni**as In Paris.”

The duo of JAY-Z and Kanye West has a reason to celebrate as they earned the diamond certification for their collab “Ni**as In Paris”. The hit collab now moved 10 million units in the US, which earned them the RIAA Diamond Plaque.

The track was released back in 2011 through Roc-A-Fella, Roc Nation and Def Jam, with production from Hit-Boy, Mike Dean, Anthony Kilhoffer and Ye himself. The song appeared on Hov and Ye’s collab album “Watch The Throne”.

The “Watch the Thrones album was released in 2011 as the collective called The Throne. They originally sought to record a five-song EP together, but the project eventually evolved into a full-length album. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 436,000 copies in the first week.

“What’s Gucci, my ni–a? What’s Louis, my killer? / What’s drugs, my dealer? What’s that jacket, Margiela? / Doctors say I’m the illest ’cause I’m suffering from realness / Got my ni–as in Paris and they going gorillas, huh,” rapped Ye.

Surprisingly, this is JAY-Z’s first ever Diamond certification record, while Kanye earned his second following last year’s plaque for his Graduation song “Stronger“.

“Luv to Ye and Hov for the opportunity. Im forever grateful,” wrote producer Hit-Boy. This is his second Diamond certification, following Drake and Travis Scott hit collab “Sicko Mode”.

“I am where art meets commercial. The sweet spot between the hood and Hollywood. Having a conversation with Karl Lagerfeld and JAY-Z within the same hour,” Kanye detailed the inspiration behind the song in an XXL interview in 2010. “When we’re in Paris dressing all crazy at fashion shows, we listening to JAY-Z. Jeezy in Paris, that’s what it is.”
