J. Cole Signs Contract To Play In Canadian Elite Basketball League

J. Cole to play for Scarborough Shooting Stars in Canadian Basketball League.

J. Cole is back in the game as he again signs for a pro basketball team. The rapper played professional basketball with Rwanda Patriots BBC in African League last year. In his short stint in the league, Jermaine scored 5 points, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds in 45 minutes of three preliminary games.

The Dreamville boss has now signed a contract with Scarborough Shooting Stars to play in the Canadian Elite Basketball League this season, which will kick off on Wednesday. Scarborough Shooting Stars’ first game will be played on May 26th, as they visit Guelph Nighthawks, and their first home game is against the Hamilton Honey Badgers on June 4th.

Before becoming pro, the Grammy Award-winning rapper, who turned 37 in January, had some previous basketball experience. He attended Terry Sanford High School before joining the St. John’s Red Storm as a walk-on. When he played for the East Team in the NBA All-Star Weekend Celebrity Game in 2012, he surely put on a show.

Cole’s Dreamville joined up with DJ Drama to release D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape last month. Ari Lennox, J.I.D, Bas, EarthGang, Cozz, Gold Mouf, and Omen all make cameos on the follow-up to 2019’s Revenge of the Dreamers III.

Recently, Cole attended one of his greatest fans’ college graduation earlier this month, 9 years after he attended her high school graduation in 2015 and 11 years after he first wished her a happy birthday. Cole was there again when Cierra Bosarge-Fussell received her diploma from Rowan University, smiling beside her on her special day.
