Eminem Talks Lockdown & Says He's Quarantine By Fame For Years

Eminem talks about being quarantined for years due to fame on Shade 45.

Eminem recently did a new interview with Sway in the Morning on Shade 45 through a phone call where he revealed that lockdown doesn’t feel much different as compared to his normal life. When he’s not on tour, the rapper has been known to keep out of the spotlight.

Eminem told Sway Calloway on his Shade45 radio show about his feelings of isolation. He revealed that he’s been quarantined for years due to the attention he receives. “Fame has definitely over the years kinda already had me quarantined,” says Eminem. “But it’s the fact of knowing that you can’t really go out and we can’t move like how we normally move.

Eminem continued, “It’s not just the same thing for me every day that it always is. There’s something to be said about knowing that you can’t go out and do certain things.“.

Eminem also discusses his frustration due to not being able to make new music. “It’s not the same when you can’t do a lot of your regular routines and sh*t, and going to the studio is like my outlet. We can’t really get in and do much, so I’ve just been writing.

Em paid tribute to rap’s top MCs, including Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, throughout the 40-minute conversation. “I know they’re not kids coming up anymore, but they’ve studied all the greats and you can tell because it goes into their pen.” “Don Toliver’s dope as f**k,” he added, while also paying tribute to his “Godzilla” collaborator Juice WRLD. “His freestyle that he did when he went on Tim Westwood and rapped for like an hour straight was incredible, especially for coming off top of the dome because a lot of people just can’t do that or they might not know that there’s an art to that,” he said of the late MC.

According to The Detroit News, Eminem’s Marshall Mathers Foundation brought 400 lunches to the Henry Ford and Detroit Receiving hospitals. Eminem supported Detroit’s healthcare workers last week by sending hundreds of meals of “mom’s spaghetti.” Workers at the Detroit Medical Center tweeted earlier this week that they, too, had gotten ‘Mom’s Spaghetti,’ stating, “Thank you Union Joints for the wonderful contribution of meals to help our team… ‘We offer our heartfelt thanks and are grateful for the support.’”

Eminem previously manufactured mom’s spaghetti to sell at a pop-up event to commemorate the arrival of his “Revival” album in 2017, a reference to the popular phrase from his song “Lose Yourself.”

He’s also given a lift to unemployed DJs by introducing a new project that allows Michigan residents to apply to be included on the rapper’s radio show.

He’s been killing time by writing (“I’ve just been burying myself in the pad”), reading books like Rakim’s Sweat the Technique, and watching the Michael Jordan docuseries “The Last Dance,” he added. “It’s incredible. It’s only two episodes in but that sh*t is like nostalgia city,” he said of the ESPN doc.

Em, who previously worked with the NBA legend, reminisced about their awkward phone call. “Everything was good until we get to the end of the phone call and I said, ‘Yo man, when are you gonna come to Detroit so I can dunk on you?’ And it was crickets,” he said. “I don’t remember exactly what he said, but I think he just was kinda [laughing]. I remember getting off the phone going, ‘Oh my God, I think I mighta just blew it.’ To me in my head, it was a total joke.”
