Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent & Others Earns Emmy Nomination For Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Super Bowl halftime show receives multiple nominations for Emmys 2022.

This year’s Super Bowl Halftime show was a hip-hop spectacle with a performance from rap icons Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and the surprise guest 50 Cent. The incredible show has now earned multiple nods at the 2022 Emmy Awards, which is taking place in September.

The group received a nomination in Outstanding Variety Special (Live), which is for the performers only. The halftime show also received other nominations like Outstanding Music Direction, Sound Mixing, Production Design and Directing.

Justin Timberlake (2018) and Jennifer Lopez/Super Shakira’s Bowl halftime performances, for which Blackstone served as the music director, have received nominations in this category before (2020).

50 Cent reacts to the nomination and already manifesting his first Emmy Award. “So I guess I’m gonna win my first Emmy Award [shrug emoji],” he wrote on his IG.

Additional hip-hop artists eligible for Emmys include Donald Glover, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Atlanta, and Kanye West, who collaborated with Coodie & Chike on the three-part Netflix original documentary, jeen-yuhs.
