Drake Creates Billboard History with Take Care & Nothing Was The Same

Drake makes Billboard 200 history with “Take Care” and “NWTS”.

Drake continues breaking more records on the charts as he becomes the first artist to have 2 projects spend more than 400 weeks on Billboard 200 chart. According to Chart Data, Drake’s “Take Care” and “Nothing Was The Same” both surpassed 400 weeks on Billboard charts, and he’s now the first act in history to have multiple studio albums spend at least 400 weeks each on the Billboard 200.

Last month, Drake’s second studio album “Take Care” crossed 450 weeks on charts, the third-most for a hip-hop project in history. Only Eminem’s “Curtail Call: The Hits” and Kendrick Lamar’s “good kid, m.A.A.d city” are ahead of him.

The Toronto rap star’s 2011 album “Take Care” recently turned 10, as the rapper celebrated the anniversary through his social media. Drizzy shouted out Drake, ASAP Rocky, J. Cole, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and more, who contributed to the project and tours.

When Drake released Take Care and Nothing Was The Same, he had not yet achieved the title of the top rapper in the game, but those two albums were what made fans fall head over heels in love with the Six God. Thank Me Later and So Far Gone were significant albums (particularly So Far Gone), but his second and third studio albums laid the groundwork for what would become a legendary career.

Drake’s follow-up to 2010’s Thank Me Later marked a watershed moment in his career, solidifying his status as a bona fide superstar and ushering in a new era for the Toronto rapper.

Nothing Was The Same, Drake’s follow-up to Take Care, was a wonderful reflection of his growth as a person and a rapper. Whereas Take Care spoke to the heartbroken, Nothing Was The Same spoke to the hungry.

Now, 10 years after Take Care and almost eight years after Nothing Was The Same, both albums are still on the Billboard Top 200, and Drake has achieved even more history with NWTS recently reaching the 400-week mark.

Drake’s this year’s album “Certified Lover Boy” is currently had the highest first-week numbers of 2021.
