Doja Cat Pulls Out Of The Weeknd's Tour & Other Festivals Because Of Tonsil Surgery

Doja Cat will not perform at upcoming festivals, including The Weeknd’s tour.

Doja Cat was scheduled to perform at The Weeknd’s upcoming “After Hours Til Dawn” global tour, and several other festivals, but she has now dropped out due to tonsil surgery.

“Hi guys,” she wrote on her social media. “I wanted you to hear it from me first. Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils ASAP. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile due to swelling. That menas I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour. I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.”

In the tweets before her announcement, she revealed that Vaping is the major cause of the infected tonsils. “dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f**ked so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon,” she said in a tweet. “nah so my tonsils got infected before bbmas and i was taking f**kin antibiotics but forgot that i was taking them and then i drank wine and was vaping all day long and then i started getting a nasty a*s growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.”

Last week, the “Planet Her” hitmaker was one of the top winners at this year’s Billboard Music Awards as she took home four accolades. For the second year in a row, she was named top R&B artist and R&B female artist, as well as best R&B album and female artist.

Her impressive performances at Coachella, on the other hand, shown that she is more than capable of filling large stages as a headliner, and her lengthy string of platinum singles (including five from “Planet Her”) should provide her with a solid cushion until she’s ready to hit the road again.

Doja was scheduled to perform at a number of summer music festivals, including the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on Saturday (May 21), and the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom on June 22.
