Taylor Swift dominates the 2023 MTV VMAs winners list.

The MTV VMAs (Videos Music Awards) 2023 took place earlier tonight at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center, and the winners list is dominated by none other than Taylor Swift. At the event, Nicki Minaj continued the hosting role for her second consecutive year for the annual MTV VMAs.

Taylor Swift, who was nominated in most, 11 categories, took home the most 9 trophies. She won the honours for Video of the Year & Song of the Year “Anti-Hero”, Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Show of the Summer, Album of the Year “Midnights” and more.

The show’s host Nicki Minaj was also among the winners, as she took home the Best Hip-Hop trophy for her hit “Super Freaky Girl”. The other artists in the category were Diddy, DJ Khaled, Drake, Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Lil Wayne and more. Diddy was also honoured at the event with the Global Icon Award.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Diddy said in his speech. “I grew up watching MTV. I started as a paperboy at 12, and then I was going to be an NFL football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.” But then Diddy shared that he broke his leg, crushing his dreams, until he got scouted as a dancer and realized he wanted to work in music.

“I want to thank every executive, every producer, every songwriter. I gotta thank the Bad Boy family because without them, I wouldn’t be up here.”

He continued, “You just gotta keep dreaming. I know sometimes you get hit with those hard things. Like I said, I thought I’d be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but God made another choice. I pray to God y’all get to do something that you love for 30 years consistently.”

Ice Spice continued her stardom as she was given the Best New Artist trophy. She beat the likes of GloRilla, PinkPantheress, and others. SZA won the award for Best R&B for her SOS hit “Shirt“. Doja Cat won the trophy for Best Art Direction for “Attention.”
