2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards Winners & Performances

The Winners & Performers at 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

The 16th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards took place a few days in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Center but aired earlier tonight (Oct. 5). This year’s ceremony was hosted by Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean. Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B who were nominated in 9 categories, won three trophies for their hit song “WAP“. The artist of the year went to hitmaker Lil Baby, who also won the award for Best Duo/Group with Lil Durk.

The Hip-Hop album of the year award went to Tyler, the Creator, for his latest album “Call Me If You Get Lost“. He also won the trophy for Best Live Performer and was honored with Cultural Influence Award. The Dreamville boss J. Cole won the award for Lyricist of the year. The legendary Nelly was honored with the “I Am Hip-Hop Award“. Rapper Yung Bleu was given the best new hip-hop artist trophy, while Hit-Boy grabbed producer of the year. Iconic Missy Elliott took home the trophy for Video director of the year.

At the 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Lil Simz was honored with the award for Best International Flow. Saweetie was recognized as Hustler of the Year, and DJ Scheme was named DJ of the Year. Hit-Boy, known for his work on projects such as Nas’ “King’s Disease” and Big Sean’s “Deep Reverence,” was awarded Producer of the Year. These talented individuals were recognized for their contributions to the hip hop industry and celebrated for their achievements.

Like every year, the 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards also had a bunch of amazing performances, which was started with Young Thug and Gunna who performed a medley of “Tick Tock”, “Too Easy” and “Ski”. Baby Keem performed his Kendrick Lamar collab “Family Ties“, off his latest album “The Melodic Blue“. BIA performed her hit track “Whole Lotta Money”, then she was joined by Lil Jon for a performance of “BIA BIA”. Though Bia’s performance for “Whole Lotta Money” lacked the energy and spice of her Hot 100 smash, bringing in crunk icon Lil Jon for “BIA BIA” helped raise the temperature on what had been a tepid effort from the hip-hop sensation. When Latto took the stage to perform, her legion of dancers not only followed safety regulations by wearing masks, but they also showed off their finest movements to her new single “Big Energy.” When the lady in red served up a serving of “Soufside,” she also lifted the bar.

In addition, Nelly received this year’s I Am Hip-Hop award in appreciation of his 20 years in the business. Tyler, the Creator also received the Rock the Bells Cultural Influence award.

Baby Keem, Young Thug, Lil Jon, Bia, Doechii, Gunna, Isaiah Rashad, Kal Banx, Latto, Paul Wall, and Tobe & Fat Nwigwe all performed during the ceremony. Nelly finished up the event with a performance of his biggest songs.

TDE’s Isaiah Rashad performed his latest songs “Wat U Sed” and “From The Garden”.
