Young Thug Reveals He Wouldn't Have Speak To Kanye West If He Was Left Off DONDA

Young Thug gave Kanye West a warning while contributing to “DONDA”.

Young Thug who recently held an album listening party at Delilah in West Hollywood, CA, is all set to drop the highly anticipated “Punk” tomorrow on October 15th. Before that, the Young Stoner Life boss decided to connect with Complex for a lengthy exclusive interview. Among other several topics, Thugger was asked about his recent collaboration with Kanye West on the album “DONDA“. Kanye West, who left out some artists including Soulja Boy, Chris Brown from the final cut on the project, got a warning from Young Thug about the consequence of leaving him out.

I just hit Kanye like, ‘Bro, if I ain’t on the album, we are not speaking,” says Young Thug. “What ni**as don’t know about Kanye West is he’s a real ni**a. He’s a billionaire, and all that shit is cool, but in real life, he could survive in the trenches. If he go to the trenches, the jungle, he could survive. He a real ni**a.

Thug also revealed that nobody can instruct him about how to contribute to a certain project. “You can’t instruct me,” he said. “You can’t give me instructions, and I am saying that humbly. I understand music. I understand life. I understand everything. I understand that this car is bigger than the car in front of us. I understand that a motorcycle could never beat this car. I understand the way the universe works, so you don’t have to talk to me about certain sh*t. I feel like ni**as like Kanye West, and Jay-Z, and f**king Quincy Jones, and James Brown, and if Michael Jackson and Prince were here… Them ni**as understand that about me. They trust me.

Young Thug’s appearance on the track occurred after he warned West that if he was not featured on the album, their relationship would end, saying, “I just hit Kanye like, ‘Bro, if I ain’t on the album, we aren’t speaking.” Young Thug confirmed that he was neither inspired nor directed to contribute to the song by West.

Soulja Boy originally recorded a verse for the song, however, he was not featured in the final version. Following the release of the album, Soulja Boy posted a clip of his verse on Instagram with the comment “F**k Kanye.” Soulja Boy voiced his displeasure with West by secretly removing his verse.

Young Thug collaborated with Kanye West on the song “Remote Control” off his tenth studio album Donda (2021). West co-produced the song, which contains vocals from fellow American rapper Young Thug, with Cubeatz, Digital Nas, Ojivolta, 88-Keys, Mike Dean, and Teddy Walton.

Young Thug then talked about his recent collaboration with Drake for his album “Certified Lover Boy“, which also featured Future on the same joint. “I think I was fresh as hell, and that ni**a Pluto [Future] was like, ‘Man, you on some sexy sh*t today. You coming in with your lotion on…’” he recalls with a laugh. “Then we just started making music. He always tells me everything to do throughout a song. And it’s the same with me, I tell him everything, too.

He continues, “‘2 Sexy’ is one of those songs that I coached. Future and Drake feel the same way, like, ‘Damn, without Thug on this, there is no possible way this song could have even came to be.’ Without Future, we couldn’t have this moment to even create this sound, and I wouldn’t have even noticed that what I was doing was too sexy that day. And without Drake, the song probably wouldn’t have gravitated to being No. 1.

Drake enlists regular collaborators Future and Young Thug for the sexually charged male empowerment song “Way 2 Sexy,” which they previously collaborated on Drake’s May 2020 mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes’ single “D4L.”

On November 5, 2021, during an interview with N.O.R.E. on Drink Champs, West stated that Soulja Boy is one of the top five most influential musicians, and when questioned why he was removed from Donda, West replied, “You ain’t hear that verse?” “The verse wasn’t good?” N.O.R.E. inquired, and West responded, “Nah, I’ll tell you what though, Soulja Boy is the future, Future the future…” Soulja Boy replied to the interview by revealing that West’s statements on Drink Champs startled him and that West had personally appreciated his verse.

TM88, who previously collaborated with Drake on the 2015 tune “Company” featuring Travis Scott, as well as up-and-coming producer TooDope, who is working with Drake for the first time. Future pays respect to Right Said Fred on the chorus of the song, interpolating lyrics from the group’s 1991 single “I’m Too Sexy,” which is also sampled during the song’s start.

He recently spoke honestly about his ambitions to become “the richest Black guy in the world,” and he explains how public projects like Slime City fit into his long-term strategy. “I want to be like an American gangster, but that worked with the government—that didn’t tell—and this is the only way you can possibly do that,” he says, making it very clear that he means he wants to work with the government on things that will help his community, not in the sense of being an informant. (Young Thug has been very blunt about his disdain for rats.) “I want to just be so big to the point where it’s like, the f**king cops have got to listen to me.”

Punk is Young Thug’s second studio album. Punk opened at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 90,000 album-equivalent units (including 12,000 copies in pure album sales) in its first week. This was Thug’s third number-one debut in the United States. The album’s songs were also streamed 102 million times on demand.
