Young Thug Reveals Day Before Collab with Mac Miller Was Recorded A Day Before He Died

Young Thug reveals he was with Mac Miller a day before he died.

Last week, Young Thug released his brand new star-studded album “PUNK” and he continues the promo run as he recently made a visit to The Breakfast Club. On the show where he squashed his beef with the host Charlamagne Tha God, Young Thug talked about the “Day Before” song which featured a posthumous appearance from the late Mac Miller. Thugger revealed that he actually recorded the song with Mac Miller, a day before the rapper died in September 2018.

I was with Mac the day before he died,” Young Thug said. “He was at my studio and we did the song on my album. This sh*t is so crazy but coincidental. He came to the studio and did the song with me and the next day he died. And the name of the song is ‘Day Before.’ But the song is about like women… It was like flamboyant.

He continues, “I think deep on that because is that a sign? At some point, you’re wondering why? Have you ever just wished God could really talk to you?

According to reports, Young Thug’s new album is expected to move around 90-100k equivalent units in the first week. Mac Miller’s fan-favorite “Faces” mixtape from 2014 was also released on all streaming services last week.

The penultimate track on Young Thug’s second studio album Punk, which was released on October 15, is “Day Before,” on which Miller receives a co-writing credit. Mac Miller died on September 7, 2018, at his residence in the Los Angeles area of Studio City, of “mixed drug poisoning” caused by ethanol, fentanyl, and cocaine.

His family released Circles posthumously in January 2020 as a companion album to Swimming, which was published in August 2018. Last month, the third anniversary of his death was celebrated by tributes from celebrity pals including Kid Cudi, Kehlani, and Juicy J. Cudi responded on Twitter, “always in my heart man.”

Thug’s second studio album, ‘Punk,’ was released last Friday (October 15). Along with Miller, the album includes appearances with Drake, Travis Scott, Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, Future, Juice WRLD, and others.
