Stream Mac Miller’s mixtape “Faces”.

As announced last month, Mac Miller’s critically acclaimed mixtape called “Faces” has been released on all streaming platforms. The project was originally dropped way back in 2014 and met with positive reviews upon release. It was rated the 10th best rap album of 2014 by Rolling Stone. The Pittsburgh rapper who was passed away in 2018, produced most of the Faces project himself.

The project featured 25 tracks, including an unheard track, with guest appearances from Rick Ross, Earl Sweatshirt, Schoolboy Q, Mike Jones, Vince Staples, Ab-Soul, and more. The album comes along with a short film called “Making Faces” Which features some old clips of Mac Miller.

A music video for the song “Colors and Shapes” was released last month, and it was directed by Sam Mason, who told Pitchfork, “The track felt very visual to me—like it had its own world. This atmospheric nighttime place that was sometimes dangerous, sometimes comforting, then I saw a picture of [Mac Miller’s dog] Ralph and a story emerged. To build it out I asked Malcolm’s family to send me bits and pieces from his childhood, scenes from the town where he grew up, objects, toys from his room—little pieces of his life that I extrapolated outwards and used to inspire the story. In the abstract, it’s meant to be a video about childhood—growing up as an artist and the highs and lows of that experience. It’s sort of a look at the emotional and difficult and perilous but noble path of an artist.

Miller, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, died of an accidental drug overdose on Sept. 7, 2018, at the age of 26. Miller released 21 Billboard Hot 100 singles after his first single “Knock Knock” was released in 2010, including the joint No. 9 smash “The Way,” which he co-wrote with his now-ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande.

“Swimming” received a Grammy nomination for best rap album in 2018 for the late musician. The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for an amazing 157 weeks.

Last year, a posthumous album called “Circles” by Mac Miller was released.
