Travis Scott Open Up About Astroworld Tragedy It Really Hurts

Travis Scott talks about Astroworld Tragedy with Charlamagne Tha God.

It’s been over a month since the tragic Astroworld Festival 2021 in Texas where over 9 people died and hundreds were injured after a stampede situation at NRG Park. Travis Scott, who then released a statement through a video and his social media, had been away from the public eye and receiving multiple lawsuits.

The “Rodeo” rapper now sat down with radio host Charlamagne Tha God for an in-depth one-hour-long interview where he addressed the whole situation. “I went through something and I feel like fans went through something and people’s parents went through something,” he said. “And it really hurts. It hurts the community, it hurts the city. There’s been a lot of thoughts, a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving, and just trying to wrap my head around it.”

Travis Scott revealed that he didn’t know about the whole thing and only heard about it after the show. “As an artist, you just do the creative. And this to be my festival, I got to bring artists, creatively produce it. We just trust the professionals to make sure that people are taken care of and leaving safely,” he said. “I just can control what I can on the stage, and you know have the professionals control what they can in the crowd. As an artist it’s hard because you want to have the best shows and you want to have the best experiences, you link with professionals to handle that side of it. You want to know what’s going on and I think that’s what we got to figure out, figure out what happened, how’d it happen.”

According to Rolling Stone, Jennifer Pea, the sister of Rudy Pea, who was slain at the event, had to turn off the interview because it was too upsetting. “There are videos of people urging him to stop this performance, and he didn’t,” she added when asked whether she accepted Scott’s assertion that he couldn’t see what was going on from the stage and didn’t realise the crowd crush was threatening lives.
