Lil Nas X Reveals He Reached Out To Drake & Nick Minaj For Collaborations

Lil Nas X visits The Breakfast Club for an interview.

Lil Nas X is all set to drop his new album “MONTERO” later tonight and before that he made a visit to The Breakfast Club for a new interview with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee. On the show, he talks about various topics, including trolling the industry, fearless originality, Nicki Minaj Fandom, “Old Town Road” success, and much more.

Angela Yee mentions the people getting angry about the things that he does. “People are just really easily angered at things they already don’t like,” he says. “People cancel people they already didn’t like. They’ll never cancel the artists that they love, I don’t really see the hate as much, or I don’t really pay attention to it as much, I see mostly love I guess.

Then DJ Envy asks about the guest appearances on the album and if there are any other artists he reached out to for the collab. “I reached out to Nicki [Minaj] and Drake,” says Lil Nas. “No reply from Nicki. But Drake replied. He was still working on “Certified Lover Boy” and he was 100% focused on that, this was like a few weeks ago. He was down to do something, but just not the right time, he was tryna get his own sh*t together. I wanted Drake on ‘Dolla Sign Slime.’

Because he has so many young fans, Lil Nas X was asked if he has a “duty” at the 12-minute mark. “I used to feel like that, but now it’s just like, ‘So?’ ‘F**k your kids,’ as the saying goes… We only have one shot to accomplish this, at least as far as I know; I’m not sure what happens when we die or anything. So it’s not like I’m going to pander to your kids or you…. I have to do this with my family members as well, because they may not always agree with what I’m doing.

Lil Nas X’s new album guest appearances from Doja Cat, Elton John, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, and Miley Cyrus.
