Birdman Urges NBA Youngboy To Save Hip-Hop We Need You

Birdman asks NBA Youngboy to come back in a facetime conversation.

NBA Youngboy, who is known for putting out consistent new music, has been away from the scene for over a month, as he last dropped a song “I Need To Know” in June. In May, the Baton Rouge rapper released his most recent album “Richest Opp“.

Youngboy’s long-time admirer Birdman had a Facetime conversation with the rapper and asked him to save hip-hop as the rap game is not what it used to be. “We need you, bruh. This sh-t watered down, man. The f–k, man? Man, this sh-t too watered down, bruh,” Birdman said. “We gotta save Hip Hop, bruh. Nephew, gotta save this sh-t bruh. Real talk.” “I see it’s watered down. I’m finna come, though,” responded Youngboy. In the caption, Young wrote: “back at it #albumtime.”

Last year, Birdman and Youngboy Never Broke Again joined forces for a joint project titled “From The Bayou“. Previously, Birdman had some high praise for the “Sincerely, Kentrell” rapper and said that he will be the biggest rap star in 5 years time. “I think NBA YoungBoy might be the biggest rapper,” said Birdman. “Ain’t no ni–a gone be bigger than NBA YoungBoy, numbers don’t lie, he’s the biggest YouTube artist right now in the world and he behind the wall.”

“When that lil’ boy get his mind right and he comes from under this bullsh-t and understands who he is, you know, [Young] Thug and all them, they’re up in age, they’re 30, this ni–a 20. And you put a ni–a behind the wall, they become smart. They ain’t making him nothing but a monster. So when he come out, he’ll know one thing. The sh-t he was doing, he don’t got to do because he can get this lil’ ni–a here. NBA YoungBoy, that sh-t ain’t normal. He nothing normal. He special. Big money right there. I think he’s a billion-dollar ni–a. He gon’ get it in touring, merch, music. We can’t do nothing about it.”

“Watching how fast he do music and the value of the music, I saw a lot of similarities between him and Wayne,” Birdman told Billboard in 2022. “I seen stardom in him, but I knew it was a process.”

He added, “I once was somebody like him and had to gamble my life. I wanted to show him that he could really survive off his talent. You could go to jail, or you could die, or you could try to be somebody.”
