Birdman & NBA Youngboy Drops New Joint Project From The Bayou

Birdman and NBA Youngboy share a new mixtape “From The Bayou”.

After announcing it earlier this week, Birdman and NBA Youngboy joined forces for a brand new project called “From The Bayou”. The mixtape features 13 tracks with no guest appearances. The tracklist features songs like “We Ride”, “Choppa Boy”, “The Bigger End”, “Young Stunna” and more.

Recently, Birdman had some high praise for the “Sincerely, Kentrell” rapper and said that he will be the biggest rap star in 5 years time. “I think NBA YoungBoy might be the biggest rapper,” said Birdman. “Ain’t no ni**a gone be bigger than NBA YoungBoy, numbers don’t lie, he’s the biggest YouTube artist right now in the world and he behind the wall.”

“When that lil’ boy get his mind right and he comes from under this bullshit and understands who he is, you know, [Young] Thug and all them, they’re up in age, they’re 30, this ni**a 20. And you put a ni**a behind the wall, they become smart. They ain’t making him nothing but a monster. So when he come out, he’ll know one thing. The sh*t he was doing, he don’t got to do because he can get this lil’ ni**a here. NBA YoungBoy, that sh*t ain’t normal. He nothing normal. He special. Big money right there. I think he’s a billion-dollar ni**a. He gon’ get it in touring, merch, music. We can’t do nothing about it.”

NBA Youngboy is without a doubt one of the most popular hip hop artists of recent years. With the continual limits and records he breaks — especially on YouTube and Spotify — the Baton Rouge-bred rapper never fails to astonish us. It’s unheard of for a rapper with no radio singles or important accolades to achieve the level of fame that NBA Youngboy has in the music industry. Having a cult-like fan following that uses the phrase “YB better” in response to every music-related post on social media is a form of power in and of itself. As the 22-year-old superstar’s career progresses, it was only natural that he connect with hip hop legend Birdman.

However, in a recent conversation with DJ Akademiks, Youngboy revealed that he’s considering retirement for over a year. “I lost love for music and it brings too many problems,” he said. “I been waiting to stop making music for about one and a half years.”

Earlier this week, NBA Youngboy released music videos for “Black Ball“, “Heart & Soul” & “Alligator Walk“.

Shortly after YoungBoy released his Sincerely, Kentrell album, From the Bayou, was released. YB acknowledged to DJ Akademiks that he still needed to make one more album in order to meet his agreement with Atlantic Records. “Probably drop one more mixtape, then I’ma drop my album and it’s over with,” he said during the conversation. “They ain’t gonna come back to me, because I ain’t trying to hear s**t they got to say.”
