Russ shares a new song “Last Night”.
Following the release of “That Was Me” earlier this month, Russ continues dropping new music as he shares another new song titled “Last Night”.
“We never quite know when we’re experiencing something or someone for the last time,” he said in a clip prior to the release. “I’ve been coming to terms with the end of a lotta things in my life..past versions of myself, the past in general, friendships, family dynamics, the end of ignoring wounds, etc. I think a lot of us, including myself, are obsessed with familiarity and are terrified of anything unfamiliar. We’re chasing comfort. It’s natural but I know that real evolution comes when you’re willing to let go of what was and embrace what is and what could be. My therapist insightfully tasked me with the exercise of writing a lyric that summarizes the grief that I’ve been processing, so I wrote a song. It’s called Last Night and it’s changed my life and it’s not even out yet.”

The new songs arrives after the cancellation of his European tour due to mental health. “I have to cancel the European tour,” he wrote. “I could make up excuses so that I don’t lose money but the reality is mentally I feel like sh*t. In the last 24 hours sh*t happened that has led to some extremely lonely and empty realizations about things in my family life that have me head felling like it’s gonna burst.”
If Not Now, When?, the newest album by Russ, was released in April and included four brand-new songs for the audience to enjoy. That project was a follow-up to December’s Chomp 2, which was an expansion pack for the well-liked 2020 EP of the same name.
