Drake’s “Make Them Cry” Breaks Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify Record; Aims For #1 Debut on Billboard

Drake’s “Make Them Cry” Breaks Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify Record.

Drake is continuing his massive comeback with ICEMAN, and now the album is already breaking records previously held by Kendrick Lamar.

According to reports shared online, Drizzy’s ICEMAN intro track “Make Them Cry” officially became the biggest debut for a rap song in Spotify history after earning 13.2 million streams in just one day. The track reportedly passed K Dot’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which previously held the record with 12.8 million first-day streams on Spotify.

The achievement quickly went viral online, especially because 6 God and Lamar’s rap feud became one of the biggest hip-hop moments of 2024. Ever since the battle ended, fans have constantly compared the two artists in charts, streaming numbers, diss tracks, and album success.

Reports also claim ICEMAN became the second-biggest rap album debut in Spotify history with 140.2 million streams in its first day. The only rap album still ahead of it is Drake’s own Certified Lover Boy, which debuted with 155 million streams.

The album is also officially the biggest album debut of 2026 so far on Spotify.

Fans online were not completely surprised by the numbers, especially after Drake shocked the music world by releasing three albums at once — ICEMAN, Habibti, and Maid Of Honour.

Since the albums dropped, Drake has completely dominated streaming charts and social media conversations. He even became the first artist ever to occupy the entire Top 30 on US Apple Music at the same time.

Meanwhile, “Make Them Cry” may not be finished breaking records yet.

According to chart predictions online, the song could challenge for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. If that happens, it would become Drake’s 14th No. 1 hit as a lead artist.

That achievement would officially allow Drake to pass Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs by a male solo artist in Billboard Hot 100 history.

The success of ICEMAN is especially important for the Toronto rap star because this is his first major solo release since the Kendrick beef. After facing months of criticism and online debates, many fans were curious to see how Drizzy would respond musically.

Now, with massive streaming numbers and multiple records already broken, it’s clear Drake’s return is making a huge impact across the music industry.
