It also features appearances from Dave Chapelle, Erykah Badu, and Stevie Wonder. A Detroit-themed track “Friday Night Cypher”, has features from Detroit’s Eminem, Royce 5’9″, Tee Grizzly, Kash Doll, 42 Dugg, Sada Baby, and more.

The original Detroit mixtape had A-listers like Young Jeezy, Common, and Snoop Dogg telling stories about the city (then going by Snoop Lion). This time, Sean reverted to the original structure, with Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, and Dave Chappelle sharing their experiences with Detroit.

Big Sean had intended to release the album on March 13, 2020, in conjunction with “313 Day,” an annual celebration of Detroit; however, the announcement was postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sean stated on Twitter that the album would be released on September 4, 2020. Sean’s final album is to be released via Kanye West’s Def Jam-distributed subsidiary, GOOD Music.

Big Sean is on a roll right now. Dark Sky Paradise, the Detroit rapper’s debut album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2015. I Decided to Go to the Top in 2017 as well. In its first week, Detroit 2 opened at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 103,000 album-equivalent units (including 30,000 pure album sales). This was Sean’s third number-one debut in the United States and his seventh top-ten album. In the week ending September 19, 2020, the album received a total of 93.55 million on-demand US streaming from all of its tracks.
