“The Matrimony,” one of the most personal tracks on Wale’s Album About Nothing, is about coping with major challenges in a committed relationship, and we see it play out in the visuals as well. We see how close he gets to losing his true love in the new video, which premiered on MTV Jams on Monday, June 8. Model Bria Murphy plays Wale’s love interest, and things appear to be going well until an unexpected pregnancy, and maybe miscarriage (if we’re reading into the song’s lyrics), put a strain on the relationship.
Wale recently spoke with MTV News on dealing with a miscarriage in a relationship, describing how difficult it was.“For about three months I just was blacked out,” he said. “I was just not right at all. For three months, I was just going through the motions. I’d be out in public and I’d have sunglasses on, and I’d just be in another universe.”
