Normani drops the new song “Wild Side” with Cardi B.
After an announcement earlier this week, Normani has dropped her brand new single called “Wild Side“, which is a collaboration with hitmaker Cardi B. The song is produced by Jack Winter and the explicit music video has already been released, which is directed by Tanu Muino.
The visual features the duo showing off sexy moves and their wild side with no clothes. Normani shows off her movements coordinated by Sean Bankhead in the four-minute music video. The video features several scenarios of the singer dressed in eye-catching ensembles that coordinate with her backing dancers. Around the midway point, the Grammy Award-winning rapper appears with Normani, both dressed in nothing but their long hair.
“I had already been in rehearsal for about three weeks preparing for the video when Cardi heard the record for the first time,” Normani said in a statement. “She really showed up for me and brought this record to life by simply doing what Cardi does best.” “Wild Side” follows Normani’s solo single “Motivation” from 2019 and a remix featuring 21 Savage from 2020. The original song was a top 40 success on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 33 in August 2019. “Motivation” was Normani’s first solo entry on the Hot 100, and it stayed on the chart for ten weeks.
“Wild Side,” which is based on a sample of Aaliyah’s timeless R&B song “One in a Million,” was choreographed by Sean Bankhead and directed by Tanu Muino (who previously oversaw Cardi B’s “Up”). With dancing routines influenced by Janet’s Rhythm Nation, images evoking TLC, Blaque, and Missy Elliot, and a clear tribute to Golden Age of Hollywood star Debra Paget, the video underlines the song’s obligations to the past. The captivating charm of a great performer, a rare find these days, is hidden behind all the pastiche, glistening in the glow of her foremothers.
The singer previously made the list for her collaborations with Sam Smith on “Dancing With a Stranger” and Khalid on “Love Lies.”
