Watch Rick Ross Performs at NPR's Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

Rick Ross performs at ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’.

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk is celebrating Black History Month as they invite Rick Ross to perform a set of six tracks. The MMG Boss performs his tracks like ‘Super High‘, ‘Aston Martin Music‘, ‘Tears of Joy‘ and more.

Ross performed a six-song show at his buddy and colleague Rich B Caliente’s gallery space, which included a throne. He performed with a live band for the second time in his career during the show.

Ross opened with “Teflon Don” Album’s “Super High,” backed by DJ Sam Sneak, bassist Thaddaeus Tribbett, keyboardist Monty Reynolds, drummer Rashid Williams, and backup singers Troy Tyler and Elijah Blake. Tyler, a backup singer and Ne-Yo protégé, filled in for his mentor’s sections, and his smooth delivery melded well with Ross’. His singles “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” and “Aston Martin Music,” which included Blake, were also covered by the group.

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series will celebrate Black History Month by featuring four weeks of Tiny Desk (home) concerts and playlists by Black artists spanning different genres and generations each week. The lineup includes both emerging and established artists who will be performing a Tiny Desk concert for the first time. This celebration highlights the beautiful cornucopia of Black music and our special way of presenting it,” wrote NPR Music.

Rick Ross’ Tiny Desk takes place in the gallery space of Miami artist Rich B Caliente, The Boss’ longtime collaborator and friend. Even though the MIA street dignitary is now living in Atlanta, Ross insisted that his Tiny Desk (home) concert get captured in the city where his roots are anchored and where he rose to rap stardom.

It follows the release of the songs “Entanglements” and “Pinned to the Cross” that were part of Ross’ current album, “Richer Than I’ve Ever Been,” which was revealed in November.

He also competed against 2 Chainz in a heavily contested Verzuz match last year, in which contestants alternately perform songs from a list of 20 selections from their discographies in front of an audience that includes fans, friends, and other musicians. Later, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz choose a winner.
