All The Winners & Performances At BET Awards 2023 SZA, Beyonce, Drake & More

SZA and Beyonce win Album of the Year.

The 2023 BET Awards took place earlier tonight at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where SZA and Beyonce wins big along with Album of the Year. Only six awards were given on the show that ran for nearly four hours, and only two winners Latto and Coco Jones were in attendance to accept the award.

The TDE SZA star was given the album of the year honour, which was a tie with Beyonce’s Renaissance. SZA also won the best female R&B/pop artist, for which she beat the likes of Beyonce, Ari Lennox and Lizzo. SZA and Beyonce both won the most awards at the show, with three honours each. They were followed by rap star Drake with two.

This year, the best male hip-hop artist award was given to Kendrick Lamar, in the category which had the likes of Drake, Future, J. Cole, Lil Baby and 21 Savage. Latto won the Best female hip-hop artist, where she beats Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice and more.

As we celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, the show was hashtagged as Cultures Biggest Night. The show majorly featured performances from rap artists, which includes Lil Uzi Vert, Latto, Davido, Trick Daddy, Trina, Chief Keef, Quavo, Takeoff, EPMD, Redman, GloRilla, Master P, E-40, Tyga, Remy Ma, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Naughty By Nature, Ice Spice and more.

At the event, Busta Rhymes was also honored with the lifetime achievement award for his impact on the culture. “I’m (going to) wear it on my sleeve. I do want to cry,” said an emotional Busta Rhymes. “I’m going to say I am grateful that the blessing that has been bestowed upon me and this gift that I have been given and this fire that continues to burn as a passion in my soul, that allows me to get into any situation – from the stage to collabing with whoever – and making sure that I am far from the weak link. Because I enjoy walking away from a situation saying, ‘I bust a*s!’”
