Netflix drops “LA Originals” Documentary feat Eminem, Snoop Dogg & others.

Eminem will be featured in a new Netflix documentary called “LA Originals,” which will premiere on April 10th. “LA Originals” follows photographer Estevan Oriol and artist Mister Cartoon as they transform their Chicano origins into gritty work that has influenced street culture, hip hop, and beyond. After announcing and dropping the trailer last week, Netflix has released a new documentary called ‘LA Originals‘ which explores the culture and landmarks of the Chicano and street art movement. The 1 hour 32 minutes’ documentary features commentary from the Hip-Hop legends Eminem and Snoop Dogg along with their old clips. It also features old videos of 50 Cent & Dr. Dre. Check out the trailer below and the full Documentary here on NETFLIX.

LA Originals” is a mix of nostalgia and reclamation. The Netflix documentary sees director and photographer Estevan Oriol, who directed it, reviewing his own career and that of his friend and collaborator Mark Machado, a celebrity tattoo artist known as Cartoon or Mr. Cartoon.

Starting in the late 1980s and early 1990s, both became pivotal figures in the Los Angeles hip-hop movement, creating work that merged mainstream (album covers, music videos) with the city’s Chicano art traditions, as well as capturing violence, poverty, and addiction in gentrifying areas of the city.

Oriol directed “LA Originals,” which was written by Brian Maya and Omar Quiroga. “Hip-hop was fresh,” Oriol commented regarding his career path in the teaser. “I’m on the road with the Beastie Boys, No Doubt, the Fujis, and Limp Bizkit right now.” I’m also the only one with a camera.”

Oriol, a lifelong photographer and music video director, has worked with a wide range of celebrities, from Eminem and Kim Kardashian to Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, and has recorded Los Angeles’ urban and gang cultures extensively. Mister Cartoon is a seasoned tattoo and graffiti artist who has worked with celebrities including Kobe Bryant and Beyoncé, as well as the Los Angeles Clippers, the “Grand Theft Auto” video game franchise, and other high-profile companies.

Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eminem, Method Man, Prodigy, Bow Wow, Beyonce, Kobe Bryant, Snoop Dogg, Redman, and others have all had tattoos done by Mister Cartoon, an accomplished hip hop tattoo artist. He designed the Cypress Hill and Em’s Shady Records logos as an artist. Mister Cartoon also appears in Xzibit’s “Criminal Set” and Eminem’s “Stan” music video.

Oriol, on the other hand, has shot Kendrick Lamar, Shady, 50, and other hip-hop artists.
