Vince Staples Announces New Album “Cry Baby,” Drops First Single “Blackberry Marmalade”.
Vince Staples is back with a new project, and this time it feels like a fresh chapter. The rapper has officially announced his upcoming new album “Cry Baby,” which is set to be released on June 5 in partnership with Loma Vista Recordings.
The album kicks off with its recently released first single, “Blackberry Marmalade,” a guitar-driven track that already gives a glimpse of the tone he’s going for this time. The song dropped over the weekend along with a music video co-directed by Staples himself and Bradley J. Calder. In a statement, Staples said, “As the world burns, I have decided to release this album. Thanks for listening.”
What makes this release even more interesting is that Cry Baby marks Vince Staples’ first project as an independent artist. His last album, “Dark Times (2024),” was his final release under Def Jam Recordings. So this isn’t just another album… it’s a shift in how he’s moving in the industry.

With a new label situation, a different sound on the first single, and a pretty loaded title, Cry Baby looks like it could be one of his most personal projects yet.
