Royce Da 5'9 Says He Loves Connecting Young Artists With Eminem

Marisa Mendez interview Royce da 5’9″.

Royce da 5’9″ recently sat down with Marisa Mendez for an interview on HipHopDx. In the one-hour interview, he talks about Slaughterhouse memories along with the surprise guest Joell Ortiz and much more. He was also surprised by his father in the Mid-Interview. Marisa also acknowledges Royce for helping producer Mike Zombie connect with Eminem, which led him to produce ‘These Demons’ on ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘ album.

Marisa Mendez: Eminem was doing Reddit and he said on Reddit that Young M.A’s “Red Flu” was his favorite of 2020 so far. And [Mike] Zombie produced five out of seven tracks on that. And I’m like, ‘Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, that means Em knows.’ So I screenshot the tweet that he had written, and sent it to Zomb. And Zomb like, ‘Broo, Em is captain, he knows you exist, we gotta get a record to him. What do we do?’ And then I am like, ‘Yo, Royce has always been like a real-a** motherf**ker. It can’t hurt to try to hit Royce. I feel like Royce always takes care of people and makes sure they’re good. So at the very list let’s hit Royce and just see what can happen’. And Mike was like, ‘Yo, yes, Royce is, He always bridges the gap’. And I was like, ‘yeah, try.’ And he sent you a DM, you hit right back, you were like, ‘Yeah, for sure, I’ll get him on the record’. And when you hit back again, you said he wants the stamps. We had no idea that Em was working on the project, so I texted him. I am like, ‘Yo, you did it! Holy shit’ Eminem released the album. He was like, ‘I’m hyperventilating’. And I am like ‘Awesome’. Thank you, man. That was so real of you. You didn’t have to do that. That’s so amazing that you’re made like that.

Royce da 5’9″: I love doing stuff like that. I love maneuvering in this business and just doing things that just come naturally. I found out that people don’t actually like doing stuff like that. That’s part of success. It’s just like when You elevate in any way, shape, form, or fashion. You owe, That’s not free, you owe. You cannot just achieve something and take it home. You gotta give it back, back to the element. You have to. It’s been so many times when something so simple and so easy, I would call up somebody and ask them to do something and they would be just like, ‘Spare me’. I know how that feels. Some can develop some sort of bitterness towards the game and that would go to another level. You can not be complicit in that type of behavior. If you have it, give it.

Royce feels that his success does not provide him the right to be inaccessible, but rather an obligation to assist other musicians in achieving fame. This is why we frequently hear about the links he finds between various artists.

This is the story of how producer Mike Zombie got on “These Demons” and how Royce da 5’9 helped him get there. Mike Zombie isn’t a newcomer to the underground music scene. Drake, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Boogie, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, and DJ Khaled have all had tunes produced by him. Young M.A.’s EP “Red Flu” was the one that truly got it through to Eminem.

Young M.A. had a standout performance on “Unaccomodating” from “Music To Be Murdered By,” while Mike Zombie, her frequent collaborator, gets production credits on “These Demons” from “Music To Be Murdered By: Side B.”
