Pop Smoke's Debut Album Breaks Eminem's Decade Old Billboard Record

Pop Smoke’s debut album breaks another Eminem record.

Earlier this month, Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut album ‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim For The Moon‘ became the longest-running No. 1 album on the R&B/Hip-Hop Charts since 1990. It spent over 17 weeks on Top of R&B/Hip-Hop Charts. The Pop Smoke album surpassed the most recent record holder Eminem, whose 2010 album ‘Recovery‘ spent 16 weeks on top of the charts.

After Pop Smoke was tragically assassinated during a home invasion in February 2020, 50 Cent executive produced Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. Quavo, Roddy Rich, King Combs, Lil Baby, and DaBaby were among the artists who appeared on the album. It was released on July 3rd, and on the late rapper’s 21st birthday, a deluxe version was released.

During its first week, the album sold 251,000 album-equivalent copies. The album has sold two million copies, and numerous songs, including “The Woo,” “Mood Swings,” and “Dior,” have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Now the album continues to dominate Billboard charts as it broke the record of most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hip-Hop chart. The album has now spent 20 (non-consecutive) weeks at No. 1 and it broke an Eminem record that was set a decade ago. Before Pop Smoke’s debut album, Eminem’s 2010 album ‘Recovery’ held the record with 19 weeks at top of Billboard Rap Charts.
