Nicki Minaj Says Eminem Inspired Her To Write Another Verse on Roman's Revenge

Nicki Minaj talks about Eminem & Kanye West on 10 Years of “Pink Friday”.

Yesterday, Nicki Minaj’s debut album ‘Pink Friday‘ completed 10 years, and to celebrate it, she did a Q&A session with her fans on Twitter. In one of the questions, a fan asked Nicki Minaj, about her initial reaction after Kanye West and Eminem sent their verses for the album.

Over the weekend on Nov 22, 2010, Nicki Minaj’s highly awaited first album, Pink Friday, was released on iTunes. Eminem, Drake, Rihanna, Will.I.Am, Kanye West, and even Natasha Bedingfield are among the featured artists. West was featured on ‘Blazin” (Minaj collaborated with Jay-Z and Rick Ross on ‘Monster,’ a tune off West”s recently released My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), while Rihanna is featured on ‘Fly” (Minaj collaborated with her on ‘Raining Men,’ from Rihanna”s Loud LP). When Minaj was asked about the Eminem song “Roman’s Revenge,” she was taken aback. ‘The most enjoyable song on Pink Friday — it gave me life,‘ she told MTV News of the Swizz Beatz-produced track.

The Disc was a huge hit right away. Pink Friday debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in its first week, selling 375,000 copies. With Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation of Lauryn Hill selling 422,000 units in August 1998, it was the second-highest debut week in the history of female hip-hop recording artists. It also had lasting strength, spending 14 weeks in the top ten after its first release. In 2012, the project was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 54th Grammy Awards and was named Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album at the American Music Awards.

She then revealed that she fainted for both and Eminem’s verse inspired her to add another verse to their collaboration ‘Roman’s Revenge‘. “I think I fainted for both. I added another verse after em sent his Back. That’s how inspired I was. With Ye, I just couldn’t believe he did it. He really just wanted to be on “right thru me”,” wrote Nicki Minaj.

The Lil Wayne protege has collaborated with dozens of artists — from Trey Songz to Christina Aguilera — over the past few months, and several of them turn up here. West appears on ‘Blazin” (Minaj raps with Jay-Z and Rick Ross on ‘Monster,” a track from West”s just-completed ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’) and Rihanna appears on ‘Fly” (Minaj teamed up with her on ‘Raining Men,” from Rihanna”s Loud LP).

She also revealed that her Eminem collaboration was her favorite on the album.
