Mariah Carey Takes Dig At Eminem To Celebrate Obsessed Anniversary

Mariah Carey throws shade at Eminem on the 12th Anniversary of “Obsessed”.

Is Mariah Carey’s Obsessed about Eminem? It’s been 12 years since Mariah Carey dropped “Obsessed“, and she celebrates it by taking a dig at Eminem. The song “Obsessed“, which was believed to be targeted toward the Detroit Rapper, was released on June 16, 2009. The track was released around the ongoing feud with Eminem, and he responds back with the brutal “The Warning” where he dissed both Carey and her then-husband Nick Cannon.

What did Mariah Carey do to Eminem? With her song “Obsessed” in 2009, Mariah struck what many perceive to be the last blow to the feud. Mariah’s huge hit “Obsessed” was inspired by that 2009 single. Mariah wore grey sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and a goatee in the much-discussed song video, which some fans interpreted as a homage to Eminem’s style. (Throughout the video, the figure also followed Mariah.)

In the music video, she disguised up as Eminem to chat to a version of herself (though she never mentions Slim by name), and the song became a success, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. As a result of sales of 119,266 digital downloads, “Obsessed” debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Carey’s most successful debut in nearly a decade since “My All” (1998). Only eight women have appeared 40 times or more in the Hot 100 chart’s history with this entry. The song reached number seven on the Hot 100, giving her a 27th top 10 hit, good for second place among female performers.

In response, Eminem released “The Warning,” a diss tune in which he claimed they’d been dating for six months, had s*x, and other allegations. Overall, Mariah is regarded as the clear victor in the saga, which may never come to a conclusion.

She celebrates the 12th anniversary with a clip inspired by last year’s viral #WipeItDownChallenge. “And I was like, why you so obsessed with me?” says Mariah. Then she wipes the mirror again to turn into her famous Eminem cosplay from the 2000s. “Just for laughs… from last year’s lockdown when all I did was wipe tings down 🧽😂” she wrote in the caption.

While it’s all in good humor, Mariah and Eminem have had a tumultuous relationship in the past. They were reported to have a romantic relationship in the early 2000s, which Mariah has denied. Marshall Mathers took jabs at MC on his 2002 album The Eminem Show’s songs “Superman” and “When the Music Stops,” while she retaliated on “Clown.”

Slim Shady renewed their dispute a decade later by dissing Mariah and Nick on Fat Joe’s 2019 song “Lord Above.” “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note / But that other dude’s whipped, that pu**y got him neutered,” he rapped. “Tried to tell him this chick’s a n*t job ‘fore he got his jewels clipped / Almost got my caboose kicked, fool, quit, you not gon’ do sh*t / I let her chop my ba**s off too ‘fore I lost to you, Nick.”

Mariah appeared to re-enter the fray when she stated she would finish her memoir in July 2020, making Eminem scared for what was to follow. “Eminem’s Achilles heel has always been Mariah Carey. They had a very toxic relationship,” an insider told Us Weekly on July 22. “He knows that Mariah is going to say very negative things about him. He is expecting the onslaught and almost welcomes it.” While the rapper is always down for controversy, he was worried she would reveal some intimate details about their love life. “Marshall is stressed out that Mariah is going to say s–t that he was bad in bed or a selfish lover because he has always been very insecure about that,” the insider said. “She knows that.”

Why does Eminem hate Mariah Carey? Who won, Eminem or Mariah? Well Recently, Eminem also took shots at Mariah on his latest “Music To Be Murdered By – Side B“. “I got a question (What?) What rhymes with pariah?,” raps Eminem on “These Demons“. The answer is Mariah, she’s compared to an outcast or someone who’s despised and avoided. Pariah is often used to refer to a person who is widely shunned for some offence they have committed.
