Lisa Ann Speaks on Working with Eminem on We Made You He's Very Creative

Lisa Ann talks about working with Eminem.

The famous Adult film star Lisa Ann recently appeared on Tom Cridland’s Greatest Music of All Time Podcast where she talked about her experience of working with Eminem on the ‘We Made You‘ video in 2009, of the ‘Relapse‘ Album. She saw enough of Eminem on set to be amazed by his creative mastery and the amount of creative control he exercised over his projects.

It was so cool. I mean because I’m an Eminem fan,” says Lisa. “So you don’t wanna be fanned out. You are not allowed to have a phone or anything with you because of privacy. They didn’t want somebody to release the song. The very first interaction was the scene as Bret Michaels from ‘Rock of Love.’ I was just in lingerie in his bed. So the first time we really kind of meeting we are climbing into bed together. He leans over me and says ‘hey’ and I’m also like ‘hey.’ We had a great time on the shoot. He was a ton of funny.

Lisa Ann continues, “Also he’s very creative. I was impressed to see. They had everything set up in this huge Universal studio, where we shot the video. After something we shot, he was going over digital animation. There are 20 people on the screen watching and he knew exactly what he wanted. And it was neat for me to see him be in front of the camera and being Eminem. And then getting out of bed going ‘well this is exactly what I had in mind, this is the vision I had.’ I was like ‘wow he’s so artistically talented’.”

He’s not lazy. He knows his ideas work and he’s not afraid to say to somebody ‘this is the idea I had’. Like there was a girl playing Kim Kardashian gets put into the shredder, the wood chipper and money fly out. That was him saying ‘of course wood chips would not but money is gonna fly out of Kardashian.’ All of this in his head. And that is a true gift.

The video was shot in Las Vegas and has guest appearances by Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Denaun Porter, Bobby Lee, The Palms hotel owner George Maloof, Francesca Le (playing Kim Kardashian), Melissa Peterman, Vanilla Ice, Trisha Paytas (playing Jessica Simpson’s role in The Dukes of Hazzard), Derrick Barry (of America’s Got Talent fame) (playing Britney Spears), actress Gabrielle Salinger (playing Amy Winehouse) and Lisa Ann (playing Sarah Palin).

The music video spoofs TV shows Rock of Love and Star Trek (with the Starfleet insignia replaced with an inverted 2nd Infantry Division), as well as the video game Guitar Hero, with Eminem performing against an imitation version of the notes, while the Rain Man homage was shot at The Palms, a film Eminem has previously referenced in his lyrics. Joseph Kahn directed the video.

Eminem discussed the song video in an interview with MTV News, claiming that it has some “Celebrity bashing,” a common element of the lead singles from his albums. Bret Michaels, Kevin Federline, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Amy Winehouse and her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Alba, Elvis Presley, Tony Romo, John Mayer, Jennifer Aniston, and Kim Kardashian are just a few of the celebrities made fun of.

The music video won Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and was nominated for Best Male Video and Video of the Year. On BET’s Notarized: Top 100 Videos of 2009 list, the video was placed #81. Beats by Dr. Dre Monster headphones are also seen in the music video.

Charmagne Tripp provides chorus vocals for We Made You. The song borrows Walter Egan’s “Hot Summer Nights,” which was produced by Dr. Dre and co-produced by Doc Ish and Eminem himself. The official single cover features Eminem, Oxen, Lisa Ann, and Bobby Lee from the music video.

In its first week, “We Made You” sold 167,000 downloads, putting it at number three on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Digital Songs list. The song also debuted at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Eminem’s second consecutive top ten on the chart, following “Crack a Bottle,” a duet with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, which debuted at number one. Eminem hasn’t had back-to-back top-ten hits on the Hot 100 as a lead artist since 2002, when he had “Without Me,” “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” and “Lose Yourself” on the chart.

Eminem, Andre Young, Dawaun Parker, Mark Batson, Trevor Lawrence Jr., and Walter Egan collaborated on the song “We Made You.” Dr. Dre was in charge of production, with Eminem and Doc Ish serving as co-producers. “We Made You” garnered mostly excellent reviews from reviewers and went on to become a hit, reaching the Top 10 in fourteen countries and number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.

“This was one of those days where I was like – “wait is this happening”… I went out on the road and danced to that song every night – re-living the magic!,” she wrote in a tweet.
