Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow Dominates MTV VMAs 2022 Nominations

The nominations for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards announced.

Ahead of their annual Video Music Awards ceremony next month, MTV has announced the much-awaited nominations for the 2022 event. The MTV VMAs 2022 is all set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, August 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

This year, Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X lead the pack with seven nominations each. Doja Cat and Harry Styles are with the second most nominations as they get nods in six categories each. Drake, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and The Weeknd with five nominations each.

Kendrick Lamar earns multiple nominations for the Baby Keem collaboration “Family Ties“, while Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X dominate with their joint “Industry Baby“.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg also get a nomination in “Best Hip-Hop” for their latest collaboration “From The D 2 The LBC” which arrived with a Bored Ape NFT-inspired music video. Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, Future, Drake, Pusha T and others were also nominated in the same category.

Lamar is up for best cinematography for the first time since 2018. In addition, the rapper was nominated for best hip-hop, best direction, best visual effects, best editing, and best video for good.

Meanwhile, Madonna, the most decorated artist in MTV history with 20 victories, becomes the first artist to be nominated for a VMA in each of the five decades. Her 14th studio album, ‘Madame X,’ garnered her 69th nomination.

For the first time since 2018, Nicki Minaj will perform on stage at the VMAs, and Kane Brown will create history as the inaugural male country singer to ever perform there. Given that Minaj will also be receiving the 2022 VMA Video Vanguard Award, her performance is extremely remarkable. On August 5, the first round of VMAs performers were revealed. On August 15, the list was extended. Anitta, Jack Harlow, J Balvin, Blackpink, Kane Brown, Marshmello x Khalid, Lizzo, Mneskin, Nicki Minaj, and Panic! at the Disco will be performing on the main stage, so look forward to their appearances.
