Kendrick Lamar Wishes Godspeed For Women's Rights In The Aftermath Of The Roe V. Wade Decision

Kendrick Lamar spoke out during his performance at Glastonbury festival 2022.

Kendrick Lamar ended Glastonbury 2022 on Sunday (26 June) with a passionate headline act during which he chanted “Godspeed for women’s rights” in protest of the US Supreme Court’s recent decision (Friday 24 June) to terminate the country’s fundamental right to abortion.

Kendrick Lamar halted his Glastonbury Festival performance on Sunday to express his support for women’s rights in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s contentious ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade. After singing his song “Savior,” Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers led the audience in an enthusiastic chorus.

They judge you, they judged Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights,” he said on stage.

Following a performance of “Love,” Lamar addressed the crowd, thanking his supporters for their continuing support.

“Count Me Out,” “N95,” “Humble,” and “Alright” were among the other songs sung by Lamar. Throughout the 22-song set, Lamar donned the crown of thorns, which was heavy on religious imagery. “I was locked up in LA during the pandemic.”

“On behalf of me and my team, I want to thank every individual out here tonight,” he said. “I consider y’all family, this shit is special, it means a lot to me. I look out into the crowd and I see different creeds, different colors. I wear this crown. They judged Christ. They judge you, they judged Christ. We gonna continue to walk in his image.”

Eminem stated on Twitter, “As a father, it irritates me that women now have fewer rights than they did only a few days ago… We’r f***kin going backwards.”

Kendrick Lamar will be joined by Baby Keem and Tanna Leone on their “The Big Steppers Tour” next month. Learn how to get tickets for upcoming shows, or buy them straight from Ticketmaster.
